Taxonomy Editor - Adding a New Thing to a Tax List

In this example, we will add the Amazon Kingfisher to the ABA 2009 w/Subspecies Taxonomic list. Assume the bird was recently seen in Texas, so you want to go ahead and put it in your taxonomic list so that you can record the sighting using it.

Assumptions: this tutorial assumes that the internal thing for "Amazon Kingfisher" already exists in your database. In most cases it will, but if not, then you will need to add this thing using the Thing Editor. If it is not in your database already you will not be able to reference it in the Taxonomy Editor. You can use the Rosetta Stone feature in Birder's Diary to determine if this thing is in your database.

After adding the Amazon Kingfisher to your taxonomic list, you can then add sightings for it using the taxonomy list and view it in the Tax Viewer.
