Sharing Your Desktop with Diary Support

Allowing Diary Technical Support access to your computer over the internet is fast, easy and the most reliable way to solve many technical issues you may be having with Birder's Diary. Simply follow the instrucitons below and within seconds Diary Technical Support can be on your system and assisting you with your problems.

Important: Online Desktop Sharing Support is by appointment only! Before you initiate Desktop Sharing below, post a new issue in the Online Forums. If the problem cannot be resolved there then Diary Support will recommend using this tool. A time for the desktop sharing session will be agreed upon between yourself and support and then you should come back here to initiate it by following the instructions below.

  1. Click on the yellow Start Session button below.
  2. Each Internet Browser may react differently to clicking on the button below.
    1. You may be asked to Run, Open or Save - choose Run or Open (most browsers) .
    2. It may auto-download the program and save it in a place (e.g. Mozilla's Download Mgr) that requires further action from you in order to run it (NetScape or Firefox Mozilla) .
  3. If you have AntiVirus or Firewall software, they may react differently to your attempt to run the program.
    1. If asked to Allow or Disallow (Grant/deny) - be sure to Allow or Grant access.
    2. Continue to Grant/Allow access if further security alerts appear.
  4. You will briefly see a splash window indicating it is running ("Birder's Diary Tech Support - Desktop Sharing").
  5. You will then be asked to identify yourself, please simply enter your first name and click Ok.
  6. Within seconds Diary Technical Support will get an invite to join your system.
    1. While Desktop Sharing is running a new icon will appear in your system tray (the area in the lower-right of your screen where other icons are and your time of day usually appears).
  7. When support joins your system, you will be able to see everything that occurs. Please do not use your mouse or keyboard while support is on your system.
  8. You will receive a notice when support terminates the session.
