I purchased this upgrade along with the Clement's/World list last week. I uploaded my old Birders Diary Data and downloaded the the new v3.6 to this computer. BD is still running in demo mode and says that the application is not liscensed on this computer. I have new data to enter, but I'm afraid it may be a waste of time to do so on the demo. I haven't had any response letting me know if my data was recieved, or how long it might take to convert it. Kinda just stalled out here, not sure what to do next.

Very glad you posted here about this.

I sent you an email right after your purchase with the following text:

Hello John,
 
And thanks for your purchase. As per the instructions on the web site (www.BirdersDiary.com) the Product Info :: Upgrading from 2.x or 3.0 page, I am awaiting the upload of your v2 database so that I can convert it for you to 3.6 format. 

Let me know if you have any questions or if I can assist with anything.

I did not receive a response - assuming you did not get it.

Also, I have not received an upload from you per the instructions on the Product Info :: Upgrading from 2.x or 3.0 page. You should not enter new sightings until I have converted your data. Please ZIP your v2 database per those instructions and upload it to this site.

Concerning Demo mode: on your invoice are two license IDs. When you start Diary, you will be presented with the License Information window. Use the Unlock Now button to enter your license IDs and your password. This will activate your 3.6 installation.

Let me know if I can assist further with any of this.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for getting back to me. 

I didn't recieve the e-mail from you. My BD data must have met your e-mail along the way, and they ran off together out into cyberspace? Weird.

I hadn't noticed the two different ID #'s. I was able to unlock 3.6 by using the correct one.

I will try to upload BD again now.

Hi John,

I have your v2 database. Thanks. Will get to work on the conversion.

I have given you a complimentary license to Clements 2008. License ID: 946093. Same password as your other licenses. I will import that version into your new 3.6 database for you, instead of the 2005 version.

Should have your new database back to you within 24 hours.

Hello John,

Your converted data is ready for download to your system and use by version 3.6. No problems were encountered.

You can download your database by right-clicking on the link below and choosing Save.

Follow the remaining instructions on the Product Info :: Upgrading from 2.x or 3.0 page on this site. Basically, unzip the download and replace your current 3.6 database.mdb with the one in this downnload.

Hi Jeff,

I'm unable to open this folder. I downloaded the folder to my desktop, when I try to open it I get an error message that the zipped folder is invalid or corrupted. I deleted and downloaded several times and keep getting the same result.

Now what?

Hi Jeff,

Well, I think we're getting closer. I was able to download the database and replace the one in BD. Now I can't unlock Clement's world list. I get a message that says I've already used the ID the allotted number of times, contact BD to increase activation count.

Also, getting runtime error message "3346" number of query values and destination fields not the same, whenever I try to look at any type of life list or report. BD closes after this message. Not fun.

Hi John,

Darn it! I forgot one final step in upgrading your v2 database. That is what is causing your error. So very sorry.

I have fixed that and uploaded a new copy of your database (same link as above). Please download that.

As for your Clements list, you only have to activate it once. Are you on VISTA? If so, did you install v3.6 per the instructions at the top of this page for VISTA? Else, Clements is probably already activated and you are set.

Please download the new database and do the copy/replace on it. And let me know on the Clements license thingy.

OK, I downloaded the database, so far, so good.

I still can't open the clements checklist though. I get "tax. list not liscenced" message when I try to use that list.

I'm running windows XP.

Hi John,

You must activate the tax list with the license I gave you.

  1. Help | License Information
  2. Click on Unlock Now (you MUST be connected to the internet)
  3. Enter your license ID and password.

That is all there is to it.
