Hi Terry,
Right you are!
A little info first. Checklist data associates things in Diary to locations. This information is independent of any taxonomic list. Taxonomic lists describe, classify, name and sort things.
In Diary, almost all data is customizable by the end-user. So fixing this is easy.
First, you need to figure out which thing is referenced by your AOU tax list's Rock Pigeon. Use the Rosetta Stone for this.
1) Bring up the Rosetta Stone 2) Type "Rock Pigeon" into the Common Name field 3) in the Bottom grid, you will see that Rock Pigeon is associated with the thing Rock-Pigeon
Now you have the thing in question.
1) Open the Advanced buttons by clicking on the Advanced toolbar button 2) Click on the Checklists button 3) Select the Thing Checklist tab 4) Type "Rock-Pigeon" into the Thing field (if asked to choose between things with common aliases, choose Rock-Pigeon) The location grid will auto-populate. 5) Type Alaska into the Location field, the ADD button will become enabled. If that location already existed for this thing, it would not, and the grid would be positioned on Alaska. 6) Click the Add button to add this location to this thing. 7) Click the Update button to complete your updates.

That is it!
Let me know how it goes.
