I would like to print out a life list in tax. order. So far I've only found ways that are in the order I saw the birds. How do I do this?

Thanks
Terry

This is very easy. I will start by editing a Life List template that prints in seen order and convert it to taxonomic order.

By default, all reports in BD sort in taxonomic order unless overridden.

1) select the ABA Life List template from the template tree

2) Click on the Design button
3) Click on the Output Columns button
4) You will see that the Life Number column has a specified sort (this overrides the default taxonomic sort)

You will want to clear that by clicking in the Sort field for Life Number and selecting the blank item.

5) Click Done to return to the designer main window
6) Click Preview/Print and Voila!

another way I've done this is thru a "Sightings" report.

The only output column is Common Name.
And I select "Group By" for the Common name.

Then select Your desired Date range, and Location.

You get the Life List in Tax Order.

An additional benefit is that you get to see how many times you have listed each life bird for the area/date range that the report covers.

So I can see that not only have I lifed a bird, but 've seen Western Gull a total of 8 times in California....etc
