Dear all,
I'm sure this is an easy one but I confess that I can't find anything to help me: whenever I open BD my life lists are updated and this happens also whenever I add any sightings. How do I prevent it from taking place automatically? Most of my birdwatching involves checking waders etc. in my local patch and the chances of a change to any of my life lists is pretty low. Waiting while my life lists are recalculated unnecessarily is starting to bother me.
I'd be grateful to be told how to switch this feature off.
Thanks and best wishes,

Hi Graham,
Unfortunately, the only way to turn that off is to disable it completely. You would do this by clearing the three location fields in the Observer Edit window.
Curiously, how long does it take to calculate your counts when you start BD? It only takes 1-2 seconds on my system.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for that. I guess I'll have to live with it then. On my system I usually have to wait around 10 seconds for the life lists to be recalculated (my database has over 50,000 records), which is just about long enough to be tiresome if I've surveyed a dozen different lakes in a day and enter sightings for each of them separately.
Best wishes,
Graham |

Hi Graham,
That is a long time. Please add this as a wishlist item. to turn off auto-calc life list after data entry.
Thanks, Jeff |
