Hi Jeff,

I've just purchased a new computer with Windows XP. I have my Birder's Diary data file on my hard drive but don't know how to get BD to recognize and use it. Can you please tell me what I have to do to get up and running?

Hi Lew,

You can do this one of two ways (assuming v3.6):

  1. Exit BD, and Copy your BD database (database.mdb) from your old system (currently on your hard drive) into your installation's /data/ directory, typically either c:\birder's diary\data\ or c:\program files\birder's diary\data\, overwriting the sample database placed there by the installation; or
  2. Open BD and do a Restore (File | Backup/Restore) operation on the old database on your hard drive. Exit and restart BD after the restore.

Let me know if I can assist further.

Jeff
