I want to make a checklist for Kenya listing the birds as follows;

Hello Simon,

The default Sort order for any report (e.g. Checklist, etc) is taxonomic order, unless a Sort is specified on any of the individual output fields. Something to keep in mind as we go further here.

You cannot group by Family/Order, as in your first request, and then sort by common name within that. The typical report would group by Family, then list common name and scientific name - but would be in taxonomic order. See first screen shot. The second screen shot shows the column setup.

If you want a checklist sorted by Common Name and also showing the Family Latin Name, then use something like the 3rd screen shot. Notice that Sort is set to ASC on the Common Name field.
