Hi,

I have a friend who is producing a book on county birds.  She has really struggled with how to make seasonal abundance charts.  It looks like the next version of BD will include this capability which would be a real boon to her.

In order to see if this will meet her needs, is it possible to get more information about how it will work?  Even a screen shot of the complete dialog box would be helpful.  She needs to know how flexible the output would be and what kind of options there are for the apprearance of the charts.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I really doubt that the new feature in v3.7 will meet her needs, if the goal is for inputting abundances charts into a document and/or book. This new feature is based on data in your database. It produces an on screen chart that you can then output to a BMP file. But you would have to enter the data first. And the output format of the graphs is fairly limited. There are probably tons of software programs out there for building graphs and styling them with much more flexibility and they don't require inputting loads of data just to build the graph. For example, CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator come to mind. Also, I will bet you can do what you need with Microsoft Excel.

The two kinds of graphs are presented below. Let me know if you have more questions and I will be happy to answer or assist.

Jeff
