I am planning a trip to New Zealand.

I was thinking I should get the Cornell/Clemens - World taxonomy

Then I wondered if this would include checklist data for New Zealand? Would I be better off to get the Australia/New Zealand taxonomy?

There is only one set of checklist data which is shared across all the taxonomy lists.

Either of the lists you mentioned should work with the checklist data. Downloading a taxonomy list will get you the latest checklist data as well.

Will you be trying for the New Zealand Storm-Petrel?

Life is filled with coincidences. This morning I read the trip report from the Z Attu trip, and then I saw your Short-tailed Albatross pictures on SurfBirds and discovered that you were on the trip. This afternoon I get to answer your question!

Regards,
Steve
