What is the status of a 64-bit eBird interface?  Currently run Windows 7 64-bit with BD 3.6.49.

Hi Clay,

Nothing new just yet. Still working on it. eBird keeps changing and keeping up is proving difficult.

It will be made available Jim. eBird has been a sort of moving target lately. You should expect something in the new year.

A 64-bit version of the toolkit is in development. I just finalized the "base" code and new functionalities for the 32-bit version and will start testing this on the 64-bit platform. My goal is to have a version available at the end of the month (perhaps sooner) for testing.

The beta version of the Birders Diary for eBird Toolkit (V2.0) is operational on windows 64-bit!

Except for one issue (silly internet explorer hangs up when downloading hotspots) all functions work the same way as the 32-bit version. I hope to release a beta version for testing within the next 2 weeks. Please contact Jeff if you would like to participate in beta testing.

Ok, IE does work fine when you download hotspots for countries that actually have hotspots. Must remember that Belgium does not have any birding hotspots, but Indonesia and the Netherlands do.

Gerco or Jeff

If I can get a copy of the beta I'd be happy to test it.

Clay - I have added you as an eBird tester. You will now see and have access to the beta testing forums at the bottom of the Product Forums page on this site - one in particular is for eBird beta kits and discussion. In addition, when the beta eBird toolkit is available, you will be able to see it and access it from the top of the Downloads page on this site.

Check back for updates.

thanks

Jeff

Thanks for working on this new version Gerco.

That is right John. You have to be a member of the eBird beta tester group. I have added you. If you go to the Downloads page and still do not see it at the very top, then log out and back in again and you should see it.

This also gives you access to the eBird beta forum. Please post comments in there on your testng.

Be aware- First time may take a bit long to start the toolkit. Loading the 42,000+ eBird hotspots can take a while. Best case 30 seconds, worst case nearly 7 minutes during testing.

I see it has been 2 months since the beta testing began for the 64-bit eBird version. What is the current status of the testing? Are the results positive? I had actually downloaded the 32 bit version today (not realizing it was for 32 bit only) and of course it did not work on my 64-bit machine. I am anxious to get this set up so I won't have to enter in everything twice.

Hi,

It should be ready before long. The author is putting the finishing touches on it.
