Dear Jeff:

I apologize for the delay in responding in fact I downloaded the software after my computer failure, and then went on the road for six weeks and received your email saying that you showed no records of my having purchased the tax lists, only the software.  Well, I cannot recall the details, but I had installed 378 North American species and another 169 from Europe and Asia.  I had Clements and ABA that I used during this time.  I assumed I paid for them, but if somehow that slipped by, you can tell me what to do.

By the way if your software kept a data file of my entries, I would appreciate knowing what it is named so that I can go through my backup files to find that file when I am ready to merge it with working software.

Well, I am back in town and would like to get back in business, during our six weeks on the road I picked up a couple new lifers, and would like Petey to properly congratulate me.

The thirty day "trial" on the software is expired, so am I back to ground zero, or can I still operate from that?  Also, if I need to pay to purchase the tax lists, let me know, what is important is that I, feeble as I am with computers, I can get the help to get back in business with Birders Diary.

Hi Bob,

Here is my recommendation:

  • Upgrade to 3.6 right now. The upgrade is $31.20 with a discount (UPGRADE36) code that expires 10/20.
  • Then get the latest ABA taxonomc list (15% discount GETLIST NOW)
  • If you want me to do the upgrade/install/import for you, I now offer a Professional Upgrade/Installation Service for $49.

At the minimum, you will need to purchase the latest ABA tax list, download and import it.

Did you upgrade from a previous version of BD, prior to 3.5; or is v3.5 your first version?

Your demo period should not have expired if you entered your 3.5 License ID/password.

Let me now how I can help with any of this.

Jeff

Jeff:

Well it has been just over three years since my computer crashed and I had to reinstall, and for the most part, your previous instructions regarding reinstall have been working. I have gotten to the screen where I am to reinstall licenses, and I get an error message which says; "This License ID has already been used the allotted number of times. Please contact sales@BirdersDiary.com, which I have done and am awaiting a response. I would however like to ask another stupid question. I come to my forum, and couldn't find any icon on the page that would allow me to start a new forum, Can you tell me what I am missing? Do I have to do this from the general forum page or can it be done from my page.

Hi Bob,

I have reset your activations.

From the main Forums page, you simply select a forum to post into and then click on the "Add New Topic" link near the top. That will start a new topic. You don't want to start a new 'forum', but instead create a new 'post' in the forum. But this is fine also.
