Do you have a valid backup of your database?
To correct your v3.6 installation (instead of doing a restore point - which should have been fine also), simply reinstall v3.6 from the Downloads page on this web site. (Click on the Network Installation link and choose Run)
Now, where did you get this database.mdb that you moved into your /data directory? If it is a copy of your backup or a copy of the original file from that directory, then this file is fine and performing a new installation as directed above will fix it. If this is not a valid 3.6 database or backup of one, then you need to get one and put it there.
