Hello Hugh,

Herring Gull is certainly there. However, if you came from a pre-v3.5 version of BD, herring gulls were incorrectly assigned to the wrong internal BD thing.

Search other posts in these forums for "herring gull" for a discussion of this and the fix.

If you feel this is not the problem, please respond and tell me exactly why you think it is missing so that I can get a better handle on what the problem might be.

Ok - thanks for looking. Can you tell me more about why you believe you cannot locate Herring Gull in the ABA 2006 tax list?

Tell me what you are doing? What happens? etc.

We should be able to get to the bottom of this shortly.

Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. Been out in the woods.

So, to solve this, you could attach a screen shot of your Sightings Entry Setup window (instructions in the Support FAQ), or I can ask some possible questions here.

In your Sightings Entry Setup window,

1. have you selected more than one tax list?
2. what location have you specified in the location field?

Try this. In your Sightings Entry Setup window

1. Click the RESET button - this clears all settings
2. Select only the ABA-2006 tax list
3. Enter North America into your Location field
4. Click CONTINUE

Now you should see the Herring Gull. Yellow-Legged Herring Gull should not show up with any default settings in BD, unless you possibly have the old Wells tax list selected also.

My bad. The RESET button is on the View/Edit Setup window, not the one we are talking about. So disregard that please.

Oh - I see that I misread your previous post. You see Yellow-legged Gull. That would be correct. I read it the first time as Yellow-legged Herring Gull and that threw me in the wrong direction. Sorry about that.

The problem, I believe is that your checklist data for Herring Gull is missing or corrupt. No problem. Easily fixed. Download the Birds - ABA - 2006-Nov checklist file and import it. You will find this on the Downloads page. (see screen shot below) Instructions for importing it can be found in the FAQ on the Downloads page or on the Downloads >> Tax List Instructions page.

You will need the ZIP password to unZIP the download file. Instructions for recovering this password are also on nthe FAQ on the Downloads page.
