I have an oddbvall questioin here. This is regarding old tax lists. e.g. I just updated Clements 2005 but I also have Clements 2004 etc. How can I remove them so as not to keep crowding up my space?

Regards,

Werner

Use the Tax Viewer window. Select the old tax list from the dropdown and then click the Delete button to the right.

Hi Jeff,
I';ve done that and followed the instructions to import the new Tax list using the instructions given in "Importing a new tax list".

But I'm getting the following message: Unexpected handling error

3022 - The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they whould create duplicate values in the index, primary, key.... etc.

What do I have to do to be able to import the list so I can regiser it?

Regards,

Werner

Hi Werner,

You can register/activate/license your tax list without importing it. So go ahead and do that at any time.

For this error (it sounds like database corruption), I am going to need to get your database. Please do the following:

1. ZIP your database (c:\program files\birders diary\data\database.mdb)
2. Upload it using the Support >> File Upload page on this web site.

Let me know if you need any assistance with this.

Hi Werner,

I do not see any file uploaded yet. Are you sure it completed?

Hi Werner,

You had the "AutoNumber" bug in your MSAccess database. I fixed it and emailed it back to you.

Please confirm that you received it.

When you get it:

1. Save the ZIP file to disk
2. Make a copy of your current datbase
3. Unzip the file
4. move the corrected database into your /data directory over your existing database
5. Start Clements import

Jeff,

Out of curiosity, if the "autonumber" bug occurs,

If the user restores a clean backup database copy, will the clean copy be contaminated?

If the bad database is deleted and a clean database backup is renamed, will that fix it?

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,

No and Yes. Best guesses.

However, I am not sure what causes it, but the problem may have to do with the MSaccess CompressAndRepair function that I do on each and every backup. I read some such thing on the Microsoft web site - but it is very vague.

Thanks The problem is solved now and I imported the Clements list ok.

One other question: On the bottom line I show my 3 choices of list. I use World, Tri-State and New York.

The World list stays "0" count while the other two are ok.

How can I get the world count to be what it is supposed to be, i.e. my world life list count instead of "0"?

Regards,
Werner

HI Werner,

You need to Edit your observer and change the tax list to your new Clements list. It is still pointing to your old Clements list.

1. Click on the Observers toolbar button
2. Select your observer and click on the Edit button
3. Change your tax list appropriately

I also got RTE 3022 when importing the world location csv.  I read this tread and I don't see how the problem was resolved.

Hi Bert,

You probably have the autonumber bug in MSaccess as well. The only way I know of to fix it is for you to upload your database (backup, then zip) via the file upload page on this site.

I will fix it and return it to you.
