 Hi,

I'm trying to install BD on my work computer but it says the license has been used beyond the alloted number of times.  I'm not sure how many get alloted, but this is only the second computer I've tried to install on.  My license ID is 267678.  Thanks.

Hello Tim,

I have reset your activations. If you are installing on Window VISTA, then be sure to read the special Vista activation instructions at the top of this page in the FAQ.

Let me know if I can assist with anything else.

Jeff

Thanks, but when I went to unlock I got an error message that said in part "attempted to register a License which is only meant to upgrade an existing licensed 3.X version of BD to 3.5...".  I did go from 2.5 to 3.5 a few years ago, but there was no trouble with the license then.

Hi Tim,

Did you use the 267678 license ID? You would have gotten that error message with the 3.0-3.5 Upgrade license, if you didn't have v3.0 installed on your system. But I didn't think that you could get that with the 2.5-3.5 Upgrade license.

If you are using the 267678 License and still getting this, please do the following:

  1. Help => License Information
  2. Click on the Unlock by email/Phone button.
  3. Reply back with the two user codes on that window; leave BD and this window open until I respond.
  4. I will respond with the two reg key codes you will enter to activate.

Thanks.

Jeff

Jeff,
Good news, bad news. The license issue is resolved, but it appeard BD is not reading my sightings database. There are three mdb files in the directory: database, import, and upgrade. The database file is 75MB and what I assume is my sightings. Any thoughts? -Tim

Hello Tim,

You need to place a copy of your database from your other system into the ...\Birder's Diary\data directory. From what you are stating above, you have placed it into your "...\Birder's Diary" directory. The installation will have put a Demo version of the database file in the /data directory. Simply delete that and put your copy there.

Let me know,

Jeff
