Hi Chuck,

I got your database. I'll start testing soon.

Hi Chuck,

What version of Birder's Diary are you using? I noticed that the database you provided is named different from the database that is used in Birder's Diary 3.5 and up.

Hi Chuck,

Since you are using Birder's Diary 3.6.49 (I have the same version at home), can you check if there is a database called "database.mdb" in the "\birder's diary\data" folder. I would like to get a copy of that database instead since that is the database that Birder's Diary should be using for your observations.

Chuck,

It appears that the DB you uploaded was from version 2.x of Birder's Diary. It is possible that you have been backing up your 3.6 database and calling the backup "bird_dat.mdb", but the database came across in Access 2000 format which also indicates it is from v2.x.

Just some extra fyi,

Jeff

Hi Gerco and Jeff,

I've uploaded the database, this time it's the compressed file at BirdersDiary\Data.  I have a bit of housekeeping to do with my files, so I'll clean out as I can -  out of curiosity, what's the difference between the Access 2000 database and the present one?

Chuck

HI Chuck,

Thanks. Well  - one difference is that one is for v2.5 of BD and the other is for v3.6.

And the v3.6 database is an Access 2003 database which can be opened by Access 2007. An Access 2000 database can no longer be opened by Access 2007 (the latest version).

fyi

Jeff

Hi Chuck,

I have fixed your database and uploaded the file to website. Jeff will notify you when you can download the updated database. Also a new version of the toolkit, V 1.0.1.8 will be made available soon. Please install this version on your machine.

Let us know how things work out.

All eBird Toolkit Users

A new version of the toolkit will be available for download soon. This version 1.0.1.8 will address an issue (yeah, my fault), that some of you may run into when multiple observers are using the same copy of Birder's Diary (thus the same database). For some observers the observations drop down list may not be populated correctly (See earlier in this thread). Please install this new version at your convenience.

Chuck,

There is no change to your database so there is nothing for you to download. Continue using your current database. When I get v1.0.1.8 of the toolkit uploaded, you will want to install that and test it.

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks, Gerco.

I saw v1.0.1.8 on the download menu, so I downloaded it - is it operable yet, or is this just a test file?

Hi Chuck,

Not sure what you saw that referenced v1.0.1.8, but it is now ready as I have just uploaded it.

Thanks Gerco! and Chuck!

Let us know,

Jeff

Hi Jeff & Gerco,

Many thanks for your patience and work!  I at first thought the program was hanging because I didn't see anything happening, but it's just slow to load (due to # of sightings?).  The .csv file I created looks great.  It also answers a question I had about putting in individual species comments -- they can easily be added to the .csv file.

Thanks again,

Chuck

Excellent result. Thanks to Gerco for having the time and patience to see this through. Quite an effort.

Hi Chuck,

The first time I ran the toolkit V1.0.1.8 using your database it took a a few minutes to load all the observations/date/observer combinations and sort them. I too thought that the program has hung up. You have over 15,000+ unique combinations. That  is a lot.

Take care,

Gerco
