My Windows XP and Norton Systemworks security settings are the recommended ones. I did clear the temporary Internet files, cookies, etc. and then attempted to login again to the homepage of Birder's Diary. It worked and continued to work when I got to the downloads page. I have never had this problem with pages on expedia.com, travelocity.com, verizon.net, etc.
The downloads were there but jammed when I started the proper one. I suspected Norton was as fault and sure enough, when I closed the download windows, Norton had popped up a window requesting permission to access a particular website that it didn't recognize. When I set it to "always", everything worked fine.
