On the downloads page, I have done the login with username and password, then it dumps me back at the homepage.  When I click downloads again, I'm no longer logged in and caught in a never-ending cycle.  Thus I can't download the newer 3.6.20 version.

Hi,

Well that is the first I have heard of that.

What browser are you using?

What OS? (XP, ME, etc)

Try clearing cache, cookies, etc.

I will bet however, that you have security so tight that your browser squeaks and it won't maintain context from page to page.

In either case if you are already at v3.6.x, then start 3.6, and select Help | Internet: Check for an Update! and thsi will get your installation going.


Let me know how this goes and if you care to troubleshoot your browser issue?

Jeff,

My Windows XP and Norton Systemworks security settings are the recommended ones.  I did clear the temporary Internet files, cookies, etc. and then attempted to login again to the homepage of Birder's Diary.  It worked and continued to work when I got to the downloads page.  I have never had this problem with pages on expedia.com, travelocity.com, verizon.net, etc.

The downloads were there but jammed when I started the proper one.  I suspected Norton was as fault and sure enough, when I closed the download windows, Norton had popped up a window requesting permission to access a particular website that it didn't recognize.  When I set it to "always", everything worked fine.
