Hi Jeff I upgraded to the new Clements World List v 6.3.2 yesterday.  I carried on adding sitings by keyboard and voice recognition and both were working.  However, I started having problems with Petey shortly after this (although I am not sure if this was linked) and eventually Petey just gave the cannot listen message when I tried to activate this function.  I downloaded the MSAgent core component file from the MS website but still no joy.  I can hear Petey so otherwise it seems to work although when I right click on him when adding to a checklist I getter a much shorter menu than when I right click before going into the add function.  Can you suggest a solution ?

When I try to troubleshoot Petey (Microsoft component) issues, I use the speech dialog from the Control Panel.

This is available under the Petey menu in BD - Speech Recognition Training. However, sometimes this panel changes because a different speech engine has been installed. Or, you installed some software with its own speech recognition or text-to-speech software. This affects things.

Petey has been very hard to support, and Microsoft dropped support for it in Vista - although it still works in most cases.

If you right-click on Petey, do you still get the Show Properties Window option?

Let's start here. Please let me know what you find and if I can assist further.

 Hi Jeff - its working again - thanks to you asking me to check the show properties window.  I had  it I remembered that I had removed the tick next to 'characters listen for input' on this menu.  I looked for it when I realised there was a problem to put the tick back but just couldnt find my way back to that menu.  Very stupid - sorry - but thanks as always. Nicolette
