I like the feature that allows one to select an observer and have up to three location total counts at the bottom of the screen (e.g. World, ABA North America and State). My problem is that when I added observations from my recent trip to Costa Rica, it included those birds when calculating my ABA North America total at the bottom of the page (yes, I am sure that I specified ABA North America and not just North America). North America includes Costa Rica under systems which only recognize North and South America, but ABA North America should only include my birds seen in the Continental US and Canada. Is there a way around this or do I wait for a future round of bug fixes? This is not a major problem, but fixing it would be nice.

There are no bugs in this area. The ABA considers the "ABA North America" region to contain "ABA Central America"; which itself, contains Costa Rica.

You can see this yourself by expanding the locations tree under "ABA North America". See below.

You can certainly change this if you like by removing Costa Rica from the tree, or rearranging the tree anyway you like.

I should have also mentioned that if you want just a true North American count (continental US and Canada), then it would be quite easy to:

a. create a new location called "NA north of MX" for example. Make it a child of "North America" because it is contained  by that location. 

b. Then edit both "Continental United States" and "Canada" and add this new location as an additional parent.

c. Now edit your Observer settings (which defines the counts at the bottom of the screen) and use this new location as one of your count areas. Now the count will only include sightings from Continental US and Canada; assuming that is what you are after.
