Jeff,

I ran a program on my computer that modified the registry. Now I get the following RTE when I run BD - "Run time error 339 component 'mscomstl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered; a file is missing or invalid."

Any suggestions? I will try and find the latest restore point and see if that works. I will let you know.

Hi Roland,

Just re-run the installation for BD from the Downloads page on this site. That should fix it.

With that said, I will say what I tell everyone: Never ever, ever never run such a program. They only cause problems. And not with just BD.

Please check back after running the installation (it will not overwrite your database) and let us know.

I ran the restore program prior to reading your replay and that fixed the problem. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the update. When you say "restore program" do you mean a) you did a system restore point, or b) you re-ran the BD installation? Just want to know for future user reference.

Hi Jeff

I've just got a similar error message (attached), but am not sure why (I haven't used BD for a 3-4 months and since then have moved house and changed internet provider).

Is it just a case of downloading v3.6 again, using the same licence code?

HI Simon,

Probably all you have to do is to re-run the Network Installation from the Downloads page on this site. That should fix it. This can typically occur when you install other badly behaving software that overwrites existing files.

Jeff,  Happy New Year!

I just experienced the same error message (RTE 339).  I don't remember installing anything new, and successfully used BD 3.7 just a few days ago.  Would you suggest I reinstall from the web site or is there something else I should do?

Still loving the program after years of use from back in the early days!

Jeff,

I created a restore point, then reinstalled BD 3.7 from the network choice and everything went smoothly.  The program seems to be loading and operating fine now.

Yes - just re-running the network installation for 3.7 should have fixed it. Glad you are up and running.
