Subject: Can't Unlock BD

Jeff, Jim Berry here.  It's spring and I'm ready to start adding birds into BD.  Afetr the problems with my old computer, Vista and CA antivirus I have rebuilt my computer and installed Windows 7.  I installed BD 3.0 from my original CD, then downloaded the 3.5 upgrade and entered my ID # and password I received with it from my on-line order.  When I attempt to run BD 3.5 I get the unlock screen and enter my info.  It says my 3.5 ugrade won't work because my original 3.0 was not a licensed version.  Please get me back in action.  Jim

Hi Jim,

Please do the following for that license:

  • Close BD if running
  • Right-click on the 3.5 BD icon and choose "Run as admin"
  • The license info window comes up
  • Click on Unlock by Phone (or is it Unlock by Email?)
  • Reply here with the two user codes on that window; keep this window open until I respond
  • I will reply with the two reg key codes that you will enter.
  • That will activate your v3.5 license
  • Now activate your Tax list license using the Unlock Now button.

Thanks Jeff, it did activate my 3.5 license, but it won't allow me to unlock the Tax list. I entered the License ID and Password from my electronic receipt, but it said I've used up my allottment. Jim

You must be using the wrong License. Yours is 60551313. If this still presents a problem please email me at support@birdersdiary.com and I will forward your password also.
