I'm new to this so I hope I'm posting to the correct place.

When I turn on & log into my laptop, Birder's Diary automatically comes on & fills the screen. I'd like to know how to disable this feature so that Birder's Diary will only come on when I access it. This is probably a very simple problem but for a technology-impaired individual like me, it remains a mystery on how to fix the problem. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Very sorry for my delay in response. I somehow missed this one.

This is not Birder's Diary behavior. Somehow it must have gotten assigned as a logon-start-this-program with Windows. For example, you may have moved BD into one of these directories for all users...

Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Windows NT C:\wont\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Windows 2000 C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Or this directory specifically for your username.

Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\LoginName\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

This is probably the culprit. Check these directories out, and if you find a shortcut for BD in one of them, remove it.

Let us know please,

Jeff
