Subject: Run-Time error 48 Error in loading DLL

 I have downloaded an evaluation copy of your Birder's Diary. After installation, upon starting the program, I get the introduction screen followed by a dialog box with the message, Run-Time Error 48 Error in Loading DLL. I have followed the directions on changing the Data Execution Prevention settings to no avail. I am running Windows 7 as my operating system. Suggestions?

Hi,

Interesting. Usually the error text will tell you which file it had an error loading. Can you please check again and let me know the entire text of the error, including the filename?

I see you are running Windows 7.Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Was the DEP set on your system? Perhaps after unchecking that option, you need to reboot and try again. Did you uncheck that option, or just add BDV36.exe as an option?

From your description, it sounds as if you get the error before the main BD window comes up (after the intro/splash screen with the singing vireo) and before you can interact with the program. Is that correct?

And... what anti-virus/firewall software might you be running?

No anti-virus, Windows Firewall and Windows Defender, LavaSoft Ad Watch

 That was the entire text of the message. I am running 32-bit. The DEP was set, I set it to run the .exe files in the program. I rebooted with no luck, unchecked the exceptions, rebooted with no luck, and tried to use all combinations while rebooting each time. Yes, i am getting the error before the main BD window comes up and after the splash screen.

Well - this is a first, then. Can I get onto your system over the internet and have a look to see if I cannot figure it out?
