All my reports now say "No data in report!". They all used to work fine on this computer. I haven't changed anything or touched it since doing my last entries in January. When I came back to it they were gone.
This means no life-list, sightings list, checklist etc.
My three-location life list at the bottom now reads zero for all three as well.
If I use "View Sightings" to call up my sightings they are all there (10432 of them)and I can export a CSV copy to my desktop.
I tried restoring from back-up: no help.
I cannot find mention of this in the forum website.
I have double-checked my tax lists and licences and they are OK.
I am using ABA North America 2008 and Clements-Cornell World 2009 6.4.1.
My Version number on start-up says running v 3.6.49
Thanks for your help.

Marshall -
When you go to pull up a report, double-check to make sure you're not filtering on something that would produce no results: for instance, make sure that you don't have "for this observer only" checked with no observer, or "sample observer" checked, or that you haven't chosen a location for which you have no data, or have a taxonomic filter that would eliminate all your sightings. It's possible to accidentally move one of those fields to an invalid value without noticing.
It may be something as simple as that. If not, perhaps some other setting in BD has become corrupted and is causing the data to be hidden. But since the sightings seem to all be there, I wouldn't "panic" yet - I'm sure it's something that can be fixed.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks. I've double checked and still "No data in report!". That includes just trying to pull up a Basic ABA checklist without reference to any of my sightings.
What shall we try next, please?
Best wishes,

It sounds like you do not have a taxonomy selected both at the report level and at the observer level. For reports, check to see if a taxonomy is listed at the bottom of the report set up screen. For the three locations quantities, click on observer and edit to see if the three choices are associated with a taxonomy.

Hi Al
Thanks, no I certainly have the taxonomy selected at the report and at the observer level. I've used these for a while and haven't changed them. I double-checked and also tried with other taxononmy types but still the same error message "No data in report!"
Thanks, Marshall |

if you can produce a screen shot of the report set up (i.e. sighting or lifelist) we may find where something is checked or unchecked that shouldn't be. If you don't know, there is a screen capture program available at the bottom of the messages which can be used to create a screen shot and can be attached when using the "ADD REPLY" function to send a message.

Thanks Al.
Here is a screen shot of a lifelist attempt that used to work.

i suppose you can see if the taxonomy lists have associated checklists. Sometimes people forget to install the checklist. One way to verify is to use the add sightings entry set up. Pick a taxonomy (i.e., Birds ABA - North America - 2008) and a location (i.e., British Columbia or ABA AREA). If you get an error message when you click "continue" then the checklist is missing.
Also, see if you can create a report from scratch, maybe there are some hidden blockers in the existing reports.
I'm at a loss if neither of these tips lead to finding the problem. Jeff will have to step in. I assume he is away on some trip or he would have responded by now.

Thanks Al. Following the tips, I am unable to create a checklist as described above. I am unable to create a report from scratch. I'm pretty concerned as an active world birder with 10000 current entries that I can't analyze at present and travel plans upcoming again. I look forward to hearing from and and Jeff about next steps. Best wishes, Marshall |

You indicated that you can use "View Sightings" to view your 10K+ sightings which means that your data did not disappear. At this point make sure you have a back up file from the Birder's Diary Folder identified "database_bck" copied from the hard drive (usually Disk C to a CD or DVD. If you have that, then you will be able to copy that database to your eventually repaired Birder's Diary. I am going to let Jeff advise you on the next steps because it may involve reinstalling ABA - NA - 2008 and Clements 2009 6.4.1 Checklists and possibly the taxonomies and I don't want you to do more work than necessary. I believe your data is still there and can be retrieved when needed particularly if it's on a backup disk.

Great thanks. Data backed-up on a different server here and I have been able to export a copy as well. Best wishes, Marshall |

Hello Marshall (and thanks to all that helped!):
I bet I have an answer. I bet the location performance table is corrupted. Easy fix. Open the Locations window and create a "test" location under world. Then delete it and close the Locations window. The performance table will be rebuilt. Now try your reports.
Let us know please.

Yes! Success. Thanks very much. Reports appear functional and count is back at the bottom
That was very educational. I appreciate your help. Now back to the field!
