I had my hard drive crash 2 weeks ago and had to reinstall Windows XP Pro. I have reinstalled Brider's Diary v3.6.49, but I lost my Outlook email where my license info was stored. How can I get a new license or my old license info back to activate Birder's Diary and my ABA list?

Thanks.

Hugh

Hi Hugh,

I just sent you an email with your license info.

Please let me know if it does not reach you or if it does not work.

Thanks for the followup. I am still at the original email you sent to, but I did not receive the email.

I have a final problem with my reinstall of BD. I was able to activate my licenses. Then I tried to restore y sightings data from a backup I had made on my old hard drive. I successfully restored from this .mdb file, but when I try to view my sightings I get the follwoing error popups:

Popup 1: "Runtime error '3031'. Not a valid password." I click Ok.

Popup 2: "Not a valid password" I click Ok.

Popup 3: "'C:\Birder's Diary\BD V31\data\MASTER 35 database.mdb' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides."

I click Ok, and BD closes completely. I restart BD and it is back to factory defaults of no sightings.

On my old hard drive I had BD installed at C:\Birder's Diary, but on my new hard drive it is at C:\Program Files\Birder's Diary.

Thanks -

Hugh

Hi Hugh,

The location is the problem. You need to install BD into "C:\Birder's Diary\" - not "C:\Program Files\Birder's Diary".

Remove BD and reinstall using the Network Installation link from the Downloads page on this site. That will install it to the correct place by default.

Then do your license activation again, using the instructions at the top of this page in the FAQ section.

After you do your Restore - be sure to exit BD and restart before trying to use it.

Jeff
