This is not fun or efficient
You need to scrap these forums and get a help line so things don't take a month to sort out!
I'm going to jump off my coffie table and end it all.

Where is the installation directory?
one needs a degree in computers to sort this stuff out.

David,

I have to assume a minimum level of knowledge and proficiency with computers from the users. I cannot make a profit selling Diary and teach users how to use computers.

The answer to your question is where I directed you in my last post. See the screen capture, again, below.

I need to assume that users know how to
1) download files from the internet
2) copy files on their own computers (help is available in Windows for this)
3) read and follow written instructions for activating licenses
4) ZIP and UNZip files (I have FAQs on this site that explain this)

If this is not the case, then may I recommend purchasing many of the computer-how-to books or videos on CD that will help you in gaining a more rewarding experience with your computer and the software on it.

I know computers/software can be very frustrating at times, but taking it out on me when I have worked hard to assist you is not the answer.

Please help me keep this forum positive and constructive and I promise, as always, to help you in any way possible.

Jeff

Jeff I do not wish to take anything out on you. You have been very helpfull.
If it was just a matter of simply following instructions it would be fine but as you know the instructions are useless if they don't work. such as uploading, I triied to upload as per instructions but the speed was too slow for the system to handle.
When I tried to activate the licence that wouldn't work and I kept getting a meassge that siad I was unautherized to use the program.
I did a search on c:\program files\birders diary\data\ and once again I got a message in a pop up window that said the location does not exist.

My frustration is not with you at all but with the fact that it is taking weeks to sort this stuff out because we have to play message tag on this forum.

Hi David,

Good enough. Let's figure out what is going on.

I think the best thing to do is for me to get onto your system.

When can you be in front of your computer and run the Desktop Sharing program at the bottom of this page?

Hi David,

Ok - run the Desktop Sharing Tool by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. Choose "Run" whenever present with an option to Save or Run.

Jeff I've been watching the video tutorials and can't believe how much better this new version is.
Thank you again.

Thank you David.

There are many features - some recent ones not covered in the help or tutorials. So, when you have questions, post them here and I will help. Oh - and you are only running v3.5. v3.6 has many more features and you can upgrade with a 20% discount by 9/30. You really should stay current. It helps fund the ongoing product, you get new features and work on the latest versions with the best support.

I know what you are thinking. No Way! Not upgrading after this effort. But really, the upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6 is a one-click event. You were upgrading from v2, a version that is 8 years old. So the upgrade path is not the easiest. However, most companies won't even consider supporting upgrades from a release over 2 years old.

Have fun,
Jeff
