Jeff,

This is heads up or you can do it now. The taxonomy order of Masked Tityra, Gray-collared Becard, and Rose-Throated Becard are not in the same order on the ABA and AOU Checklists. I questioned Kimbell Garrett and below is his reply.

Regards, Al

Al,

I think the simple answer is that ABA has the wrong sequence in their latest (Version 7.3) checklist; they used the sequence from AOU 1998 (7th Ed.).  That sequence has been modified and both the AOU North American and AOU South American lists have Tityra preceding Pachyramphus.   I’ll let Jon Dunn and Dan Gibson (acting ABA checklist committee chairs) know and make sure it gets changed.  So the correct sequence (for the ABA area) is:

                Masked Tityra

                Gray-collared Becard

                Rose-throated Becard

Thanks Al.

It seems to me, but let me know if you feel otherwise, that keeping both in their currently published orders, might be best; until ABA changes of course.

Jeff

Jeff,

I agree especially if they don't fix it right away.
