How do I install the software on a new computer. I have the Lic ID's and PW. I could not remember my old login and I have a different email from when I originall bought the software 2 years ago. I did a new login but the downlog information doesn't appear when I sign in. I also need to know how to transfer lists to the new computer.

Hello Jamie,

There is a topic in the Online Help on this site (Support => Online Users Guide), then "HOW-TO => Move BD to a new computer". That should explain most everything.

Once you logon to this web site, as you have obviously down with your "JamieHarvey", username, then you will see the contents of the downloads page.

Let me know,

Jeff

OK, I've downloaded and installed BD V3.6. I was using AOU 2006 and had not upgraded the list on birders diary. Do I have to upgrade to get the AOU 2008 or can I somehow use the 2006 list from the zip file on my old computer.

Hello Jamie,

Yes - as per the instructions in the Online Users Guide I pointed you to above - just copy over your BD database from your old system. That will contain your taxonomic lists and all your data. Then simply activate your licenses. Be sure to re-read that section in the Users Guide.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Jeff

Hi,

BD is a Windows program. It will run on any MAC however as long as you are running some sort of PC emulation software which allows you to run any windows program. Parallels seems popuplar with many BD users on MAC. And BD runs without any problems under it and others.

With that, you can transfer all your data over to the MAC. Everything is contained in the one database file in your .../data/ directory - database.mdb.

See How-To topic in the Online Users Guide for how to move BD to another computer.

Let me know if I can assist further.

Jeff
