BD shows me quite an extensive taxonomic list selection. two questions:

1) Will deleting taxonomies I do not plan to use affect anything else (e.g. data sets, records) if I have never used that deleted taxonomy?

2) If it is safe to do, HOW do I delete taxonomies so I can only see choices of the lists I actually use?

God Bless and Good Birding,

Hi Tadas,

  1. No.
  2. Use the Tax View button in the toolbar. Select the tax list, and press the Delete button to the right.

Take care,

Jeff

Is it OK to delete tax lists that I have used in the past, but will not use again?

 Dear Jeff,

I deleted my Clements - world 2008 tax list by mistake.  How do I get it back?

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

You can simply import it again. There is a video here that shows how to import a tax list.

You probably still have the Clements 2008 import file on your computer in either your "/Birder's Diary" directory or your "/Birder's Diary/data" directory.

Let me know if you cannot find it.

Jeff

 Hi Jeff,

I followed the directions and retrieved my Clements - 2008.  However, the directions continue with a download of Clements - 2008 - checklist.  I could not find a copy of the checklist version of my Clements 2008 list.  I tried working with BD, using the Clements 2008 file, and I have had no problems.  I can develop checklists of birds from various countries without a problem.  Did I not need the Clements - 2008 - checklist?

Dennis

Actually Dennis, that is correct. If all you did was to delete the Clements taxonomic list, then all of its checklist data is still present and there is no need to reimport that file.
