 Jeff,

It's me again.  This is very frustrating.  I open my BD through Parallels and as it opens I first get this error message: "Error with License Control. ErrNum=13 Description="  and then a second error message: "ErrNum=18 Description="

Then the program opens, but the only icon active is the exit icon.

Please help.  Obviously my program has multiple corrupt or damaged issues.  Wouldn't it be better to just delete the whole darn thing and start over with a new installation?  I have the database backed up.

Thanks.

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

I see you had corruption problems last year in June. Was this on the MAC also?

I wonder what is corrupting your files? This error indicates that BD cannot open/read the license file. I don't have any other MAC users (or Windows users for that matter) reporting this problem - so I don't think it is inherent or systemic to BD.

Yes - I would do the following:

  1. Make sure you save a copy of your database in multiple places off of your computer (e.g. a memory stick makes a good location)
  2. Remove Parallels and reinstall it. If this poses a big problem, you can first try removing BD and reinstalling it. But if that doesn't work, perhaps it is Parallels that is corrupt.
  3. Reinstall Parallels; and then reinstall BD. Restore your backup. See HERE for instructions on this process. It is for moving BD to another computer which is essentially the same process I am proposing above. The same steps.

Let me know if I can assist further.

Jeff

I have reinstalled Parallels, as you instructed, but am unable to reinstall BD. I have version 3.5, which we purchased back in 2005. You helped me with an update in an earlier session when you came onto my computer remotely, but the only license key I have is for version 3.5. This is not even useful to me, because the CD I use to install version 3.5 is not working. My computer cannot read it anymore. So, now I am stuck with no working version of BD. I've been working on this for over an hour today and need to get onto other things in my life. Can you help?

Hello Bruce,

V3.6 is installed from this web site - no CD required.

After you installed Parallels - did you install Windows on it? What version?

Do you have a copy/backup of your BD database on a memory stick or other such device?

If you have Windows installed under Parallels on your MAC already, I will get on and install, activate and put your database in place for you.

Let me know - I can do this in the next 30 minutes or else not until tomorrow.

Jeff
