Hi Jeff,
Count me in for testing please. I'm off to N.India at the end of this week so can't do anything before April. Pity I can't do some field testing this trip!

Hi Geoff,
I'm currently using Pocket Bird Recorder, which is quite useful in the field but it can be improved. I'd gladly share my experiences and beta-test birders diary (mobile).

Regards,
Andy

I'm in as a beta tester Jeff. I will be in the same boat as John W., but off to Peru instead. Take care.

I would love to have BD on my PDA (Palm) but cost would be a factror. $50 approx would be fine. I would be willing to be A TEASTER.

Heck, I'll buy a PDA just for this-- depending on the functionalitythat could be expected. I realize this is "early stage" but it would be nice to know a few generalities as they become available. For instance, would this be a "record new sightings only" kind of software, that uploads into the desktop version of BD, or would you be able to view past sightings on the PDA once it's synchronized? Either would be useful, but I might buy a more powerful PDA, for instance, if I knew the software would be able to hold all the desktop data too; whereas a lower-end model might be sufficient if all I'm going to be able to do is add & edit new sightings for later synching.

Hi Kevin,

Excellent input. Is that something that would be considered valuable? Having all or a subset of your past sightings downloaded to the PDA?

My initial vision was only to have the ability to record sightings on the PDA in the field, and then have then auto-uploaded into BD upon your return to your computer. The PDA should contain checklist info and location info - which you would choose (see Handheld beta forum if you are a beta tester) among other things.

Jeff

But - do not go out and buy your PDA yet until we settle on the platform for sure.

Hi Kevin:

I'm sure you know, but the PPC has limited program storage for data unless there is an installed storage card.  We have to be concious of this and the amount of data that we are talking about.

Thanks for the suggestions.

John.
