Next go-round for AOU/ABA updates, there will be a few new birds on the Louisiana state list (Gray Flycatcher, Smooth-billed Ani, and Greater Flamingo among others) but I noticed one that I think needs removing.
Black Francolin was once considered a successfully introduced exotic in Louisiana, before the establishment of formal criteria and a committee process for evaluating these things. However, the Louisiana Bird Records Committee decided some years back that the species did not meet the criteria established later, and removed it from the official state list.
I only stumbled onto it because I'm helping set up a new BD install for someone whose list dates back to when the bird was countable. She had the sighting in her manual list but had updated it as "non-countable", but BD apparently has it on the list and resurrected the sighting.
I'm not sure how y'all handle deletions but insofar as I can tell, that's the only thing that needs removal. If you want I can get details of the removal (date, etc.) from the committee secretary. |
