auugghhh.  this is  so annoying.

I bought the basic version of BD 3.6 for my PC laptop running Vista.  I paid my 34 dollars or whatever for the "Basic" licensing and installed, but everytime I open the program it says that I'm on a 30 day trial period.

So did I infact download the program I paid good money for, or did I just download the free trial version.

if so, how do I get my Basic BD program I bought downloaded and installed through the "internet" method.

All I want to do is get this up and running, buy the ABA, Mammals, Reptiles, Amphibians checklists and go to town.  Would someone please help me because I am getting increasingly discouraged.

In addition, is there some sort of help manual or tutorial that doesn't require audio?  And where do I find it?

Please someone help me get what I paid for and let me find out how to get more.

Bryan

Have you tried doing the last four bullets in the "If you are new to Birder's Diary" section on the Purchase|Instructions page at http://www.birdersdiary.com/Purchase/Instructions/tabid/65/Default.aspx ?

I have tried this. When I go to help and liscensed information it says "application not liscensed on this computer". I have bought the basic program!!! I have tried to reinstiall this thing so many times now that I have used up all my installation "uses". I am still only being allowed access to the demo. What happened to the thirty some dollars I spent for the basic version of the program??? Everytime I have used my liscense code to "unlock" into the "demo" program it does nothing...

Is there anyway I can get my money back if I am not being allowed access to anything but the 30 day demo after paying for the basic program?

Hi,

Just so I understand (and Jeff will) - when you click Help|License Information, do you get the form titled "License Information" that has an "Unlock Now" button toward the bottom center?

That is the button you will need to click, but it sounds like Jeff will have to reset your activation counts.

Hi Bryan,

Sorry for my absence in this thread since yesterday. To activate BD on Vista, you need to follow the instructions at the top of this page entitled: Correctly activating your Birder's Diary user license on the Windows Vista operating system. That is the problem you are having. I have reset your activations.

Please let us know if we can answer or assist with anything else.

Jeff

I have a similar problem but on XP. I first got the world birds list, which worked fine on the 30 day demo version. I thought I had everything but found I needed the license as well. I bought that, and tried to install 3.6, which it seemed to do, but when the installation program finished it gave me the Read.me file, and I could find no way to run the actual program. In addition, it seems through all my efforts I have used up my three tries. How do I run the program itself (not the installation)?

Hi Jeff,

Very sorry for the frustration.

You already had 3.6 installed and the user license activated.

All you needed to do after purchasing the Clements 3.6.2 license was to install that tax list from the Downloads page. And then activate that license. Instead, it seems that you may have re-installed BD. No problem. How about I go ahead and get you up and running by getting onto your system over the internet? I am full-up the rest of today, but what about anytime tomorrow? You only have to be present to let me onto your system.

Jeff
