This is from the Online Users Guide

File Format

This file format is protected by checksum security and you can only create a taxonomic list using the Birder's Diary Tax and Thing Editors along with the Tax Viewer.

Let me know what you are trying to do and I can probably help you achieve it via another method.

That explains the long hex number in the one I exported as an example

No biggie.  I want to create a tax list for East African mammals so I can create a checklist for an upcoming trip.  I have the KPCOFGS values for the 76 animals I want to add on a spreadsheet already and thought it would be easy to import.   I'll just add them via the tax editor.

Let me know if you have any questions. You should be able to do 76 animals in less than 10 minutes with the Thing and Tax Editor in tax builder mode.
