Jeff

I have now purchased an Advanced User license and 2 taxonomies: "Birds - Australia - New Zealand - 2008" and "Birds - Clements-Cornell - World 2009 6.4.1". But I seem to have run into a problem activating the Australian taxonomy and checklist.

When I tried to import the downloaded version of the Australian taxonomy, I got the following message:

Name Not Unique!
The name [Birds - Australia - New Zealand - 2008] is already in use.
Please choose another.

So I chose another and things seemed to go OK.

However, when using Birder's Diary subsequently, I seem to have two Australian taxonomies to choose from - the old one (with the original name) and the new one (with the new name).

Unfortunately, when I select the new one, all of the mods that I recently made to the Australian taxonomy (like switching Eastern Broad-billed Roller to Dollarbird) are gone. When I go to the earlier version, my changes are there but am I licensed for this one?

I also installed the 2009 Clements-Cornell taxonomy and checklists and that seemed to go OK.

How do I clean this up? Do I, for example, just get rid of the newly installed Australian taxonomy (how?). And would I then have to import the associated checklist again?

On reflection, I guess maybe I shouldn't have tried to install the Australian taxonomy (maybe it was already there in th trial version)? But, if so, why did the Cornell one go without a problem?

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the confusion. Yes - your demo database already contained the Aus/NZ tax list. So, when you tried to import it, it said that it already exists, allows you to import it anyway but under a different name. And yes, you imported the original version of the tax list - so it doesn't have your changes. Both are licensed. You are free to keep an original copy, import a third copy, and/or modify any of them to your heart's content. If you don't want the extra original tax list around, just delete it using the Tax View window.

Now, as for the Clements, when you installed 3.6, it only contained the older Clements tax list, as the new one just got released and was not in your demo database. So, downloading and importing that was necessary and correct.

Hope this clears things up.

Let me know if I can assist further,

Jeff
