I recently purchased the taxonomy Butterflies of North America 2007.  The list order is very different from the previous version I have.  Which taxonomy is this?

Hi Jeff,

This is what I have from my notes:

The butterfly taxonomy and checklist was started years ago in excel format. I used the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) as the primary data source The USGS (Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center) has recently deferred these data to Montana State University at:

http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/ The Current information citation for Butterfliesandmoths.org is cite as:

Opler, Paul A., Harry Pavulaan, Ray E. Stanford, Michael Pogue, coordinators. 2006. Butterflies and Moths of North America. Bozeman, MT: Mountain Prairie Information Node. http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/

I have another tax list presented to me ready for use, from another author. It is from July, 2009. So more recent, but not sure of the source/authority being used in that one.

Do you find other issues other than taxonomic order? Let me know if so please.

Thanks,

Jeff
