This procedure you are using should work without any problems at all. So I have to wonder if you are moving the correct backup file over to the system. Assuming you are, then where, exactly, are you getting this error. On your XP system, yes, but where in BD; e.g. after you click the "Restore" button? Please walk me through the steps that lead you up to this error.

As a workaround, you can just copy the backup file into your ".../birder's diary/data/" directory on your XP machine and rename it to "database.mdb" (overwriting or replacing the existing file by the same name). That is all the Restore operation does anyway.
